Will Farmville run on this NVIDIA GeForce 330 GPU with 1GB VRAM?
See, it bothers me a lot less when someone honestly just doesn't know what they're doing, because there are a lot of things I myself don't know about. I happen to talk and sell computers all day long, so I know something about that. But can I explain a carburetor or even change my own windshield wipers without a fuss? Nope, and I'm okay with that. Why aren't other people okay with not knowing everything about everything? I don't get it and in fact I find it both ignorant and unflatteringly egotistical... well, ok... what I want to say is that I think those people are just assholes.
As I mentioned, I sell computers all day and there are a lot of computers out there for all different needs and tastes. People come to me all the time (with no intention of buying I'd bet) and complain "Why does this model X not have the latest feature, which is Y". I'll look at them, knowing that neither feature would matter for what this person want to use a computer for, and I just want to strangle them sometimes.
The fact of the matter is that most people only use their computers for the same few things, over and over -- the web, email, some word processing, maybe a little graphics here and there, and then there's entertainment like movies and games. Almost everyone, everywhere does this and yet people keep acting as though they need to shop only where the latest, most powerful computers ever made are sold. Nevermind that if I were to stock said computers, these folks would never buy, due to the astronomical prices they'd command.
But there they'll go, every time. "Oh, I need nothing less than a Core i7 processor, with 8GB and a 2GB graphics adapter. I'll also need it all in an 11" screen size, with 4K resolution. Can you do that?"
Yeah, buddy. With all that, your Mafia Wars on Facebook are just going to look AWESOME.
Look, I get that everyone has to learn it sometime, but just because you clicked a link once or a technical magazine fell open in front of you today, doesn't mean that you know something, okay? Let those who know, inform you, even if they make less money per hour than you do. The fact is, I may not be able to afford that laptop you'll be bragging about owning, but I guarantee I'll understand what it does more than you do.
So think about that the next time one of you is about to give me shit about the system I'm selling you having "only" a maximum 8GB of DDR2 RAM (not DDR3!?! I'm going to tell!) and that the 13" screen isn't 1080p (shock! horror!) --- when you and I both know that the most complex task you perform is to download pirated movies and play Farmville.

LOLz -- Is "Jersey Shore" soon to sleep widda fishes?
- suddenly grew an overdeveloped sensitivity to perceived "ethic issues", or...
- they didn't watch or read anything about the show before signing on, or...
- (most likely) they thought it was going to make them money like trash TV usually does and signed with drool at their lips, only to find out that they were going to alienate a lot of customers -- not to mention getting the bad reputation anyone gets hanging out with bedazzled-out douche bags like these.
First -- Disingenuous bullshit. No company drops out of something for reasons such as conscience. They simply see the negativity as affecting their bottom line and they're chickening out before it's too late. The idea that they're worried about offending a few self-appointed moral governances is as transparent as the "drama" created by/for the show.
Second -- There's no bloody problem in the first place. So a few people took offence at the word "guido" - who cares? There's always someone who's going to stand up on that soapbox. The fact is, most people had no idea it was even pejorative, let alone truly offensive to anyone. The term guido has been embraced and enjoyed by those it actually targets (i.e. not the ones complaining) for a dog's age now. If it ever was truly offensive, it's not anymore. You can let it go.
Either way, for the record, I think the show is the type of cancerous filth that's been choking the magic out of television for a decade now. I won't miss it when it's gone.

Multiculturalism is not what some people think.
It brings up an interesting (and common) argument about integration and multiculturalism. Canada is well known for being "multicultural" but how many people really stop and think of what that means.
To me, it means I'm not the only one who sees things like I do, but there are plenty of folks who see things differently too. This means I should to find a way to integrate my lifestyle with the co-existent lifestyles that differ from mine. Be me, but only up to the point where other people are able to be themselves too. It boils down to this: You know you can't make everyone happy, but that is your aim, regardless.
Many lifelong Canadians get up in arms whenever established norms are challenged by those who "got off the boat". I often find myself saying, "whoah, there pal, you're free from persecution over here, but this is Canada. You're here now, so act like it." Some think this sounds intolerant and un-Canadian-like. Well, I give you this to chew on then...
"The Government of Canada ... encourages these communities to participate fully in society by enhancing their level of economic, social, and cultural integration." -- Citizenship and Immigration Canada
To me, that's a neighbourly way of stating that being free in Canada does not give you complete freedom. It does not guarantee you will be allowed to do whatever you did before you came here. It does not guarantee that practices accepted abroad for thousands of years will be accepted or even tolerated here or now. Your ways are important to you, but everyone else's ways are important to them, as well -- especially with regard to safety and ethics. So, a common agreement must be sought in all things.
Unsafe or unethical practices, whether in the context of a belief system or not, are generally made unlawful for the greater good of all. If you belong to a religion or sect which requires acts or behaviour that are construed as unsafe or unethical, it is likely that this behaviour will be treated harshly. If not by the law, then by the general Canadian public.
So you're used to wearing a facial mask everywhere? Here in Canada, it makes you appear deceitful, secretive, even dangerous.
Carrying weapons was normal? Not here, bucko. Chill out.
Being born with a penis used to automatically grant you executive privilege? Nope. You'll have to prove you're a leader the hard way now.
Your religion says that everyone else is lesser creature than you? Well, that's too bad. You're in Canada where that thinking just makes you lonely.
These are things that are you'll just have to deal with. On the other hand, in exchange for losing those pieces your "identity" (puh-leez) you get to enjoy smiling faces, free health care, the ability to create and run your own business, join any religion you want (or none at all!!) and be less fearful for your children.
Canada is multicultural, yes, but it has an identity and a culture of its own. We have community standards, customs, rules and regulations. Canada is not something just waiting to be picked up and re-configured by everyone who finds it. The sooner everyone gets that straight the better.

The Most Annoying (and Common) Errors of the English Language
Some may make the argument that I'm "not the grammar police". Fair enough. As far as I know, there are no grammar police. If you don't agree with my list, feel free to comment. The way I see it, there's very rarely more than one way to say any given word correctly. The purpose of verbal communication is to make other people hear and understand the information you wish to convey. Therefore, if one wishes to be understood, then one should accept that there is no opinion on the matter. There's a right way and there's a wrong way and that way, if everyone speaks correctly, everyone will understand each other.
Some may make the argument that certain cultures have developed their own slant on the language and that I'm being prejudiced. No, I'm not. Again, this list only applies to the notion of speaking so that others understand you. If you want to make up new ways of speaking the language, you're not going to grammar jail for doing it. You're just going to find that people don't understand you as much as you'd probably like them to.
Anyway, feel free to comment about whatever.
Cheers.
don't use... | ...when what you mean is... | … because...
aks | ask | How exactly did a typo in an early 1990s chat room become such a plague on the English language?
anxious | eager | Eager means you're looking forward to something. Anxious is the opposite of eager.
anymore | nowadays | Nowadays, there's no excuse for this. I hope you're not going to misuse “anymore” anymore.
anythink | anything | Anything is like “something” - a compound word, made up of Any and Thing. Anythink therefore, obviously makes no sense.
ascared | scared | There's afraid, or there's scared. No such word as “ascared”. Read more and you'll not see that word written anywhere.
asterick | asterix | The “s” sound at the end is not indicating plurality. People saying “asterick” have clearly never seen it written.
Aw-ite | alright | If you don't care about the words enough to actually move your mouth a bit, then why should I listen or care?
borrow off | borrow from | Mr. Borrowoff was in the Russian mafia. It was unwise to borrow from him.
chase lounge | chaise longue | Say it like SHAYZ LONG, with a bit of a hard g at the end. i.e. it's “a long chair” not “a chase around the lounge” :)
coincidential | coincidental | I had problems with saying this one. It still slips out once in a while.
congradulations | congratulations | This error is probably a result of people's assumption that the word originates out of “graduate”. It doesn't.
conversate | converse | Adding extra syllables is a technique often employed by those who want to fake intelligence they don't possess.
could care less | could not care less | One means you still care a little. The other means you don't care at all. Which statement do you wish to convey?
cumptable | comfortable | When speaking quickly, it may be forgivable to say “comfterble”, but “cumptable” is really pushing it.
curve | curb | A curve is a descriptor of something. You cannot kick anything to the angle. A curb may have a curve, but never is one.
duck tape | duct tape | *unless you're specifically saying the brand name, which incidentally is making fun of the common mispronunciation.
excetera | et cetera | Hence the abbreviation “etc” as opposed to “exc”.
for true | truthfully | Shouldn't really say “for real” either, but it's commonly accepted vernacular, though improper.
female | woman | Trust me, your wife prefers to be called a woman (and therefore human) rather than a non-qualified “female”.
jamp | jumped | Note that “lamp” is not the past tense of “limp” either.
in route | en route | It's french. Would you say “Deejah View” or deja vu?
innit | isn't it | If you don't care about the words enough to actually move your mouth a bit, then why should I listen or care?
instinctual | instinctive
ironic | coincidental | It's not ironic that a man who's afraid to fly died in a car crash, unless it was a falling plane that caused that car crash.
irregardless | regardless | A double negative that doesn't exist in the first place.
just assume | just as soon | I'd just as soon stick pencils into my ear canals as listen to people who don't read enough to ever see words spelled out.
laxadaisical | lackadaisical | Lax? What, like you're so lazy you could shit where you stand or something?
liberry | library | What are you, a two-year-old? Jeesh.
literally | actually | I actually might literally harm the next person I hear use these improperly.
midrift | midriff | Some say certain words as though the word should include the same sounds as other words. Drift is a word, but isn't related to midriff.
might could | “might” or “could” | pick one.
my bad | my mistake | *unless you're joking. If you aren't joking when you say “my bad” then you're an idiot.
nawmeh? | know what I mean? | Unless you're mentally disabled or learned english by reading lips only, you have no reason to slur words in this manner.
nucular | nuclear | Be afraid when the finger on the button belongs to someone who can't pronounce what the button does.
of | have | This error stems from children mishearing the contraction for “have” which is “-'ve”. Speak clearly, people.
on accident | by accident | Yes, it matters. Try saying “by purpose” – sounds wrong, right? That's because it is.
opposed | supposed | Opposed means taking an opposite position to someone/thing. Supposed means that something is intended.
orientate | orient | *unless you're British, orientate is not a real word. Are you British?
ostensively | ostensibly
Over-exaggerated | exaggerated | *there's no super-exaggerated, uber-exaggerated or mega-exaggerated either.
pascetti | spaghetti | If you're not a toddler, you have no excuse for this mispronunciation.
penultimate | ultimate | Nothing improves on the ultimate. Penultimate doesn't mean “super ultimate.” It means “next-to-last”.
seen | saw | Things get seen. It's people who “saw” it. When an exciting thing has been seen, one may wish to speak of what they saw.
speeshies | species | When a c is followed by a vowel, it's soft (pronounced like an s). Think fleecy, panacea or feces.
supposably | supposedly | “Supposably” or “supposingly” or “supposively” aren't written anywhere... you need to read more and say less.
supposingly | |||
supposively | |||
tennative | tentative | People who speak too quickly for their own good, sound like they're dropping the 2nd T. Speak clearly to help those who don't take the time to read words.
tooken | took or taken | ||
whose ever | whoever's |

350 Canadian Songs That Non-Canadians Should Hear
Please note that there is a huge slant toward the genres I am most familiar with (hard rock, metal etc), since I am not an encyclopaedia of music. Knowing that my own tastes would skew the list unjustly, I have also made efforts to gather songs from several genres that I have little taste for (such as country, folk, hip hop). For this, I mostly used Google and Wikipedia for help.
And now, the list... enjoy (I hope.)
